On the road part 7

We are at a park again, this time with D and D. D is keeping sissy from falling off the merry go round
taking a swing break and being a little stinker!
After a few hours at the park we came home and did crafts. We had made bat pictures at the library that morning at story hour and this craft was sand art. Instead of using sand I used food coloring to dye salt different colors and it worked well.
After the sand art we used leaves to make pictures. I had been collecting leaves from various places to use and D and D really seems to enjoy this craft. Thank goodness for pinterest!

D's pictures of a cat and ballerine ( with a little help from grandma)
 D's underwater scene
Hoopy kept a eye on us and his halloween cat.

I always carry my camera with me just in case a photo op shows up! These photos are of the sky on my way to work in the morning before a storm and below are the storm clouds passing through

Blomstre'

Blomstre' was created by Andrew Andrasko out of 20 bicycle wheels for the pedals ,2 bicycle frames for the leaves and 3 1/2 inch pipe for the stems. The flower centers are stainless steel mixing bowls painted black. It is made of old bicycle parts.

It's 30 feet tall, and sits on a new bicycle path in St. Charles. It moves slightly when the wind blows. Andrasko is a metal fabricator and has a background in sculpture and design and creates one of a kind pieces.

world wide photo walk 2012

I participated in a world wide photo walk a few weeks ago in historic Old St Charles. I've taken photos here on my own but this time went with a group of photographers. Most of the photos are ones that were my favorite of the 100 or so I shot.
a pub crawl on bicycles and kilts. I took this one just because of the kilts.
I thought that I had found a hidden treasure when I saw this building, as it turned out everyone had found this.
 view of the fall trees
I was intrigued with this cart and its many textures
 down by the depot.
hinge and ring on a old cellar door
steps behind one of the buildings
our group; I met some great people, had great conversations at lunch and made plans to join a photo club in my city.

on the road with grandma part 6

We finally had a change to visit the new park in town in our quest to visit a differnt park each week.
I pushed the merry go round and the next day wondered why my legs were achy; the merry go round is hard to push, I quess to keep the little ones from falling off.
 L flying like a butterfly.
the park has a waterfall, a stream and a small wading pool at the end. We floated leaves and twigs in the stream and then grandma had to go wading to clean out the drain so the water wouldn't overflow the pool.

last day of the farmer's market

C and I went to the last day of the farmer's market in her town. There were vendors selling
crafts, food and of course animals. Not that I could buy a chicken, goat in a tutu, bunnies or goats and still live in my suburban neighborhood. I came close to getting in trouble because my house was dirty from our hot dry summer, can you imagine what the trustees would say if they saw all these farm animals in my back yard!!! I would probably pick the goat (so I wouldn't have to mow the grass) and the bunnies because they are just so cute!

books of October

Plain Jane was good. Several red herrings in the story.

Wildflower Hill was very good. Liked the two different stories going on. This was our bookclub selection. I didn't read much in October and I don't know why. It seemed like I never had time.
