Veteran's Day Ceremony

I've been attending Veteran Day ceremonies since my dad passed away a few years ago. He was part of the "Greatest Generation" and was so proud to be in the Marines. He served in the Army and the Marines. Dad didn't talk much about his experiences in the service and I'm sorry I didn't ask more questions.

The day was warm and windy; gusts up to 45 mph. The flags snapping in the wind.

Movies

I've seen a couple of movies since I'm not working right now. Argo was very good; I didn't think I would like it. Ben Affleck was very understated in his role and I learned several things about this incident. My only disappointment is that the darn movie theater's extremely loud sound system. Next time I must remember to bring my ear plugs.
I read all the Hunger Games books and enjoyed the movie. Jennifer Lawrence was Katniss. Woody Harrelson and Lenny Kravitz were excellent in their roles. I'm looking forward to the next installment.

Halloween trunk or treat

It was a dark and cool night.....
the beautiful butterfly was ready to flutter
the spider was weaving his web
 attached to the car
part of the decorations. I made D's spider costume again this year. He has been a snake, komodo dragon and a spider, next year he has decided to be a zombie, so my costume sewing days might be over!!!

CMU game

finally got to see another game, most of the games we have tried to attend have been cancelled for various reason. This game was at the last minute (or 2 hours notice since that is the distance we have to travel) The quality of the photos are a little shaky because it was so cold. Earlier that day it was 75 degrees.

Ghost tree

I meant to post this photo before Halloween, I'm really really late for that! I saw this tree along the highway and it struck me how it looked like a tattered ghost. The next day I had the opportunity to stop along the highway with out getting killed to take this. You might have to squint and use your imagination to see the ghost.

On the road part 7

We are at a park again, this time with D and D. D is keeping sissy from falling off the merry go round
taking a swing break and being a little stinker!
After a few hours at the park we came home and did crafts. We had made bat pictures at the library that morning at story hour and this craft was sand art. Instead of using sand I used food coloring to dye salt different colors and it worked well.
After the sand art we used leaves to make pictures. I had been collecting leaves from various places to use and D and D really seems to enjoy this craft. Thank goodness for pinterest!

D's pictures of a cat and ballerine ( with a little help from grandma)

Blomstre'

Blomstre' was created by Andrew Andrasko out of 20 bicycle wheels for the pedals ,2 bicycle frames for the leaves and 3 1/2 inch pipe for the stems. The flower centers are stainless steel mixing bowls painted black. It is made of old bicycle parts.

It's 30 feet tall, and sits on a new bicycle path in St. Charles. It moves slightly when the wind blows. Andrasko is a metal fabricator and has a background in sculpture and design and creates one of a kind pieces.

world wide photo walk 2012

I participated in a world wide photo walk a few weeks ago in historic Old St Charles. I've taken photos here on my own but this time went with a group of photographers. Most of the photos are ones that were my favorite of the 100 or so I shot.
a pub crawl on bicycles and kilts. I took this one just because of the kilts.
I thought that I had found a hidden treasure when I saw this building, as it turned out everyone had found this.
