scenes of St Charles
a reproduction of St Charles Borromeo church. the original was build in 1791 a typical French log church with a vertical post construction instead of a horizontal contruction like the picture on top
this is the common room of the Boones Colonial Inn. It looks like a museum but actually it is a hotel, circa 1837. the innkeeper is dressed in period clothing and the last time i walked on main street, st charles missouri, this building was pop's general store. the rooms are furnished beautifully with all the modern amenities. the wall are 3 foot thick and the building was built 33 years after Lewis and Clarks expedition.

St Charles had been celebrating its Bicentennial this year. I spent all morning wandering up and down the streets looking for photo opps and gathering postcards. I have been this great site called postcrossing. You register and your name and address is sent to another member somewhere in the world and they sent you a postcard. You in turn get someone's name and send them a postcard. I've been having so much fun and for a change it's fun to get mail. The web site if you are interested is www.postcrossing.com. More picture of St Charles in the future

ymca
this is the reason my blogging has been off and on. last month i joined the y. i have moderate high blood pressure and after dealing with my dad's disease, his death and the selling of his house, the blues set in and i've found out i have bad reactions to depression medication, so thought i'd try exercise and do i feel better. i've only missed 3 days in the past month. i've taken yoga (which i love) and tai chi classes (which are interesting) as well as the weights and treadmill. the treadmills are great, they all have little television and you can watch what ever program you like. since i don't have cable tv this is my motivation to walk a little longer. i workout for an hour after work and by the time i get home and eat dinner, there is not much time to do anything else, but i feel so so much better and a bonus is i've lost about 5 pounds! yahaaaa
